How to Calculate Aluminium Weight
The weight of an aluminium profile is calculated from its cross-section area, length and the density of the alloy:
Weight (kg) = Area (mm²) × Length (m) × Density (g/cm³) ÷ 1000

Weight Formulas per Profile Type
- Round tube: π/4 × (D² − (D−2t)²) × ρ ÷ 1000 kg/m
- Square tube: (A² − (A−2t)²) × ρ ÷ 1000 kg/m
- Rectangular tube: (A×B − (A−2t)(B−2t)) × ρ ÷ 1000 kg/m
- Round rod: π/4 × D² × ρ ÷ 1000 kg/m
- Flat bar: A × B × ρ ÷ 1000 kg/m
- Angle (L): (A + B − t) × t × ρ ÷ 1000 kg/m
D = outer diameter, A/B = side lengths, t = wall thickness (all mm), ρ = density in g/cm³
